Both owners have worked from the bottom up within the industry and understand the meaning of hard work. Through hard work and determination, they built The Diamond Center into one of the highest accredited jewelry stores in the nation.

Steve Yeko, Sr. started in the jewelry business in 1974 by answering a help wanted ad in the local Milwaukee newspaper. Steve started as a salesperson for that company. Within twelve months he was promoted to store manager and helped open a new location for the jeweler in Illinois. Two years later, Steve was again promoted to the district manager of five jewelry store locations in Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1982, Steve and Heidi Yeko branched out and started their own business in Antioch, Illinois. In 1984 they relocated their store to the Beloit Mall. In 1986, they moved into the Janesville Mall.

In 1992, Steve Yeko, Jr. came to work for The Diamond Center as a salesperson. After three years of sales experience, Steve Jr. was promoted to Sales Management. He ran the sales floor for four years until 1999 when he became the Purchasing Manager for the company. Steve Jr., is now Vice President of Operations for the entire company.

Since moving into the Janesville mall, the Yeko's expanded the store three times to encompass 12,000 square feet. The jewelry showroom consists of 7,000 square feet. The Corporate Office, a rare luxury that usually goes undetected, consists of 5,000 square feet and is located above the store in the Janesville Mall.

In 2002, Steve Yeko Sr. and Steve Yeko Jr. and their families opened their second location on Gammon Road in Madison. This store has a showroom of 6,000 square feet. The store has already gained considerable market share in the Madison area and continues to grow.

Building a Jewelry Superstore is no easy task. It has taken the Yeko's 29 years of daily commitment to bring the business to today's level of success. "We don't take our customers for granted," says Steve Yeko Sr. "As my son, Steve Jr. and I work with our customers, we listen to their requests.
